Role & Department Overview

The Strategic Projects team, part of the Strategic Planning and Governance division, is seeking a number of passionate and driven Lancaster University students (undergraduate or postgraduate) to join our team as Strategic Projects Student Champions.

In this exciting role, you will play a crucial part in shaping the future of education and the overall student experience here at Lancaster University.

You will provide a unique student perspective, sharing valuable insights and experiences, as well as collecting and analysing data to help to inform and shape our curriculum.

Expected end date: 2nd of May 2025

Hours per week: 4 hours weekly
 
Location: Remotely (in the UK) and on the Lancaster University campus

Job Description

Tasks will typically include:
 
  • Sharing experiences by creating and maintaining a diary/video/blog which helps others to understand how you experience your programme and how it fits with the rest of your life, including balancing work and social commitments with learning activities and assessment.
  • Organising and recording short one-to-one interviews (listening rooms) with other current students to ask about their experiences and views on the current curriculum and their educational experience.
  • Undertaking data collection through the creation and facilitation of student surveys and focus groups, analysing data and producing short reports.
  • Undertaking supervised design of short ‘educational courses’.
  • Working with other Strategic Projects Student Champions to organise events that help engage other students with the understanding and enhancing the overall educational student experience at Lancaster.
  • Contributing to building awareness of the changes to the student experience through various communication strategies and engagement activities.
  • Maintaining the student focused ‘student voice’ information portals with regular updates and conversations to maintain student engagement.
  • Represent the student voice in regular meetings with senior educational change stakeholders, providing updates on activities and progress.
  • Work with the Academic Associate Dean for Students to embed student engagement strategies to enhance the student experience.
  • Work in partnership with staff and students, as an ambassador for the University.

Person Specification

We are looking for current students (undergraduate or postgraduate) who are passionate about their educational experience and want to be involved in positive change.
 
The successful candidates should be able to demonstrate the following:
