The successful candidate will undertake a piece of research on the behalf of Furness College and will present their findings to key stakeholders, e.g. College Senior Management, the Junior Common Room Executive, etc.

We have noticed at events such as Open Days that when we are trying to ‘sell’ Furness College, we struggle to elucidate what our unique selling point is. Some colleges would have these (e.g. Fylde would say that they are a ‘sporty’ college), but Furness struggles to go beyond saying that we are a nice, friendly college, which I would like to think would be true of all of the colleges! The College’s Senior Management Team would like the successful candidate to undertake a piece of research into what Furness’ unique selling point is so that we can use that within our marketing and promotion of the College, particularly when recruiting new students. This research will be based upon consultation with stakeholders such as current Furness students and staff, and Furness alumni.

Furness College is one of the nine constituent colleges of Lancaster University, formed of 1300 student members and 500 staff members. Normally, we would write here that we are a nice, friendly college, but we are hoping that the successful candidate will find out something more specific about us which we can use in our future marketing!
