Become a Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Student Ambassador!
 
 We are now recruiting for our 2024/25 Student Ambassadors and are inviting all current students within the departments listed below, both UG and PG, to apply to join the FASS team to support our events. 
 
We are looking for Ambassadors within the departments/subjects listed below. If your department is not listed below, this means we already have enough Ambassadors to represent subjects for this department and therefore, will not be accepting applications for those.
 
  • Criminology 
  • LAEL  
  • Global Religions (within PPR) 
  • Sociology 
  • Social Work 
  • Media and Cultural Studies 
  • School of Global Affairs (anyone studying Chinese, French, Spanish or German) 
  • Architecture 
  • Design

About the Role 

As a Student Ambassador, you will have the exciting opportunity to represent your department, and the University, engage with prospective students, and be a vital part of our ambassador community. Your responsibilities will include sharing your personal experiences, leading campus tours, participating in events, and providing valuable insights to prospective students and guests. This role is perfect for enthusiastic and motivated students who are passionate about their course, department and Lancaster University, and eager to inspire others. You will be joining the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) events team, who lead activities such as the Open Day events, Offer Holder Events, personalised visits, Campus Tours and online outreach activities. You will work closely with departments and other central University teams on an ad-hoc basis.  

This role is open to all students studying a subject within FASS, and we would encourage First Years and anyone planning to stay at Lancaster for postgraduate study to apply. Full training in all aspects of the role will be provided. 

Successful candidates must be available to attend the training day on Saturday 25 January 2025 (times TBC but it will be all day) and be available to work 3 out of the 4 Undergraduate Offer Holder Events on the following dates:

  • Saturday 01 February 2025 
  • Saturday 22 February 2025 
  • Saturday 22 March 2025 
  • Saturday 05 April 2025 

We will try our best to allocate you to your 3 preferred dates, however, this may not be possible due to availability. For any dates not in term time, we are able to cover travel and provide accommodation when neededAccommodation is on a first-come, first-served basis

Your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Represent your department and Lancaster University to the highest possible standard, engage with prospective students, and be a vital part of our campus community
  • Consistently provide great quality campus tours to prospective students and their guests
  • Share positive experiences and enthusiasm for Higher Education and Lancaster University, specifically at events and activities throughout the year
  • Act as an Ambassador for your department and the University, promoting its ethos, opportunities and services and enhancing its reputation at events
  • Answer any questions that visitors may have professionally and positively, and share personal experiences of your studies and life in Lancaster
  • Have good knowledge of Lancaster University and be able to share this knowledge with visitors
  • Support and assist at events where required, e.g. Open Days; Offer Holder Events, with subject talks, taster sessions, set up and set down of equipment for each event
  • Work as part of a team and lead by example, delivering consistently good service 
  • Support the Outreach team at events such as HE Fairs, UCAS Fairs and School Talks (Optional)
  • Support any online events including webinars and live stream tours (Optional)
  • Attend compulsory training and briefing sessions where required
  • Assist with any other duties as may reasonably be required by the recruitment and admissions team
