Role & Department Overview

The School of Mathematical Sciences at Lancaster University will once again be organising Florence Nightingale Day, an enrichment event aimed at girls in Year 11, 12 and 13, on Thursday 9 January 2025 in Lancaster University Management School.

The event welcomes 200 students and their teachers and is organised in conjunction with the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme (https://amsp.org.uk/).

The event is well known among schools and colleges in the North West and forms an important part of the School of Mathematical Sciences' outreach work. An important aim of the event is to enable girls in Year 11, 12 and 13 to speak with current Lancaster mathematics and statistics students in a supportive environment – whilst trying to answer some tricky quiz questions! - and this is why we'll be employing a team of student ambassadors that day.

If you'd like to work as a mentor and help ensure that everyone attending is able to have a fulfilling day at Lancaster, we'd love to receive your application.
