Settle Stories is an independent arts charity in one of the most rural parts of the UK.  From its venue (The Joinery, Settle) they challenge perceptions of art produced in rural areas. Settle Stories’ mission is to collaborate with exceptional artists to create transformative experiences for people and communities. 
 
The Film Production & Live Streaming Assistant Internship offers hands-on experience in video production, live streaming, and post-production. Interns will support film shoots by assisting with camera setup, sound recording, and lighting adjustments. Additionally, they’ll work with streaming technicians to set up, monitor, and optimise live streams across platforms. This role includes camera operation, sound mixing, and real-time troubleshooting to ensure smooth broadcasts. Ideal for those eager to build practical skills in both film making and streaming, this internship provides
valuable training in content creation, technical setup, and audience engagement, preparing interns for dynamic roles in media production.

Weekly hours: Varied, dependent on availability of artist (70 hours in total over several weeks)

Job Description

  • Technical Setup: Set up and manage filming and streaming equipment, including cameras, audio interfaces, lighting and streaming software. Test equipment and settings.

  • Network Management: Ensure a reliable internet connection, configure network settings, and monitor bandwidth for smooth streaming.

  • Audio and Video Quality Control: Monitor and adjust audio and video quality to ensure a high standard of production, handling any live issues.

  • Stream Encoding and Optimisation: Optimise video and audio quality for the streaming platform, encoding video and adjusting settings based on available bandwidth.

  • Troubleshoot connectivity or quality issues during the stream.
  • Live Production Support: Coordinate live shots, switch between camera angles, manage overlays, and monitor audience feedback in real-time.
  • Post-Stream Processing: Edit and upload recorded streams, manage metadata, and archive footage for future use.

Person Specification

Confident using cameras and film equipment to film and edit
Excellent skills in film making and editing
Good time management and organisation skills
Able to work independently and as part of a small, enthusiastic team
Excellent communications skills
Good skills in photography and design
The candidate is expected to have access to a computer, internet and editing 
software when working from home
Ability to work evenings and weekends
An interest in the arts and/or education
Interest and the ability to learn vision mixing and streaming
