The Cyber Foundry works with SMEs in the Lancashire and Cumbria area to help them with their digital innovation and encouraging secure by design methodologies. As part of the assistance the Cyber Foundry offer SMEs, we recruit a student intern and place them within the company to carry out research and development work to help the company innovate and make them stand out against their peers in their sector and industry. One such company is The Growing Club C.I.C who are looking to develop their website adding in further functionality and potentially integrating systems to support the day-to-day management of services.
The Growing Club C.I.C IS a not-for-profit organisation, facilitating skills and business training, creating opportunities for women, using a creative and alternative proven model.

Pay Rate: £11.44 per hour + £1.38 holiday pay

Location: Remotely (in the UK) and on the Lancaster University campus
Job Description
- Provide a short technical article for a wider (non-technical) business audience circa 500 words.
- Understand and identify the aims and objectives of the business for effective communication and content development.
- Provide creative and innovative ideas to help shape the direction of development for an innovative application.
- Appropriate duties as directed by the CF technical manager.
- Provide a handover report that will collate the work done throughout the internship; the approach, the decision making, and potential future work.
- To develop an understanding of the work that the SME does, providing assistance and advice to help them excel in their sector.
- Attending weekly team meetings with the CF technical manager and the SME team.
- Aim to develop a room booking system for their hot desking office space and develop events listing and calendar booking system. Possible App and Web development.
- Researching best/cost effective options for the organisation and then to begin development.
- Ensure the developed prototype adheres to GDPR and other relevant data protection regulations
