Role & Department Overview

The Cyber Foundry works with SMEs in the Lancashire and Cumbria area to help them with their digital innovation and encouraging secure by design methodologies. As part of the assistance the Cyber Foundry offer SMEs we recruit a student intern and place them within the company to carry out research and development work to help the company innovate and make them stand out against their peers in their sector and industry. One such company is Sairo Studios Ltd who’s project focuses on taking digital fashion and being able to transfer it between digital games / systems.

Sairo blends strategy and delivery to develop creative solutions that combine human connection and spatial/immersive technology. The company prepares and builds businesses towards the next stage of the internet.

Born out of COVID, the rise of Zoom, and before Meta's name change, Sairo was launched to deal with the digital disconnect between reality and the metaverse. Human experience has to be at the core of what they build to bridge the gap.

Pay Rate: £11.44 per hour + £1.38 holiday pay

Start Date: 18th November 2024

End Date: 17th February 2024 (Approx)

Location: Remotely (in the UK) and on the Lancaster University campus

Job Description

 
  • Provide a short technical article for a wider (non-technical) business audience circa 500 words.

  • Understand and identify the aims and objectives of the business for effective communication and content development.

  • Provide creative and innovative ideas to help shape the direction of development for an innovative application.

  • Appropriate duties as directed by the CF student project manager.

  • Provide a handover report that will collate the work done throughout the internship; the approach, the decision making, and potential future work.

  • To develop an understanding of the work that the SME does, providing assistance and advice to help them excel in their sector.

  • Attending weekly team meetings with the CF technical manager and the SME team.

  • The company want to develop tools that can take 2D - 3D models of clothing assets and convert it into different assets that can be used in other digital realms using AI.

  • Ensure cyber security best practice and GDPR rules are adhered to where necessary
