Role & Department Overview

This work will contribute to ongoing significant investment in digital technology innovation with small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the northwest of England: The Centre for Digital Innovation (CDI, https://centrefordigitalinnovation.ac.uk/). As part of this project, you will work closely with an industry partner and receive support from the CDI team within the School of Computing working on R&D challenges that bridge academia and industry.

This opportunity seeks a candidate to assist with the design and implementation of a bespoke mobile application for the healthcare sector. ND Axon Ltd. aims to of a user-friendly prototype application for individuals with neuro-conditions.

This position is offered as part of a programme of opportunities for individuals and will be supervised by a member of the School of Computing CDI team. This opportunity is designed to give participants the experience of contributing to real-world research and development in collaboration with businesses.

Job Description

We are seeking a talented and motivated Developer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about cybersecurity and AI and will play a crucial role in developing mobile applications. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology and make a significant impact in the field of cybersecurity.
Main Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and development of a user-friendly prototype application for individuals with neuro-conditions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
  • Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
  • Identify and correct bottlenecks and fix bugs.
  • Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximise development efficiency and security.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends in mobile development, AI, and cybersecurity. 

Person Specification

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following:
 
  • An interest in applied research and development, specifically in the development of new products.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential, both verbal and written.
  • An interest in the commercial application of R&D, especially with small to medium-sized enterprises.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to plan and work autonomously as well as integrate into a small team.
  • Excellent communication skills, and able to effectively communicate with a wide range of people.
  • Ability to assess and evaluate business requirements and convert them into technological solutions.
  • Competent IT skills.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
