Role & Department Overview

The University has set ambitious targets to become net zero in its carbon emissions by 2035. This includes 'Scope 3' emissions outside of our direct control, primarily as a result of travel and our carbon emitted in our supply chain.

This internship is an opportunity to gain experience in this emerging area and to support the Sustainability and Procurement teams in their efforts to achieve net zero.

This micro internship is for 30 hours in total (including 4 hours for training) and is aimed at students who may not have had any professional prior work experience and are looking for an opportunity that supports them to develop their employability skills.

Eligibility

GROW Your Future is an opt-in scheme for UK undergraduates and postgraduate taught students who also meet specific Widening Participation criteria, e.g. students who are:

Location: On the Lancaster University campus; Remotely (in the UK) and at the premises of an external employer

Job Description

The intern position will support the Head of Procurement and Head of Sustainability to:
 
  • Collect carbon emission data relating to Scope 3
  • Analyse carbon emission data relating to Scope 3 
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders 
  • Discuss and present information to the team 

Person Specification

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following:
  
  • A member of GROW Your Future 
  • An interest in Environmental Science, Geography or Business Studies 
  • Able to collect and analyse data with support
  • Attention to detail 
  • Good written and communication skills
