Are you an enthusiastic individual willing to represent Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) and its brand? Looking for flexible work? Keen to develop presentation, communication and intercultural skills? 

The LUMS Recruitment and Conversion team are looking for friendly, reliable, engaging and inspiring Undergraduate students to join the LUMS Student Ambassador Programme.

Our Ambassadors represent Lancaster University Management School and their degree programme at recruitment events such as Open Days, Webinars,Unibuddy, and Offer Holder Events.  

Other work includes administrative support for the team, such as helping with mail-outs,and participating in calling campaigns.

Above all,we are looking for highly motivated people who are passionate about Lancaster University and want to share their stories and experiences with prospective students.

Being a LUMS Ambassador fits around academic study, as the hours are very flexible. You choose when and how much you want to get involved with the work that is available.

Being apart of the LUMS Ambassador Programme will give you the opportunity to develop professionally and personally. 

You will also develop transferable skills to help boost your employability when you graduate, thereby enhancing your CV. Training will be provided.

 

Pay Rate: £11.44 per hour plus £1.38 holiday pay

Start Date: 1st November 2024

End Date: 31st October 2025

Location: On campus

Job Description

Main duties: 

  • Working at events where required e.g. Open Days; Offer Holder Days; HE fairs; UCAS fairs; student life talks, etc;
  • Sharing positive experiences of, and enthusiasm for, Lancaster University and LUMS in particular, at events and activities throughout the year;
  • Providing high quality campus tours to prospective students and their parents, answering any questions they may have and sharing your personal experiences of life in Lancaster;
  • Contacting prospective students by email, telephone and social media platforms (as directed to by the Recruitment and Conversion Team) to respond to queries and provide information about LUMS.
  • Contributing to content generation to support student recruitment for use in newsletters, website and social media.
  • Assisting with administrative duties in the office, for example with mailouts.

You will not be expected to work all types of shifts that we offer. This will depend on your choice and our business needs.

Person Specification

 The successful candidate:
  • Must be a current Undergraduate student in Lancaster University Management School (incoming students beginning in October 2024 are welcome to apply)
  • Must be able and willing to act as an Ambassador for the University, promoting its ethos, opportunities and services and enhancing its reputation at events.
  • Has some knowledge of Lancaster University including the campus, systems, facilities and student life.
  • Has excellent communication skills – you might be asked to speak on the phone, write a blog post or deliver a presentation. Speaking additional languages is an asset.
  • Must be reliable, punctual and with a good level of self-motivation.
  • Has the ability to use initiative, work independently and as part of a team.
  • Is able to work under pressure and in a variety of situations.
  • Has a good knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Word, Excel and email.
  • Has strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Is willing to develop presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Has an engaging personality and the ability to communicate with a diverse range of people and ages in a professional manner.
  • Has the ability to solve problems and think creatively.
  • Experience of working in a customer-facing environment and providing excellent customer service, advice and guidance is desirable.
