Beetham Nurseries is a family-owned, independent garden center on the A6 in south Cumbria, just 4 miles from the M6 motorway. Established in 1984, Beetham Nurseries is proud to offer something different to customers, with an outdoor plant area and a Growing Nursery. Gardening essentials are available for purchase in the garden center and two on site cafes, The Garden Cafe and The Wood Fired Kitchen, offer a variety of food from freshly made pizza to sweet treats. Finally, there is a home and lifestyle, and gift shop — showcasing unique local, national and international brands.


Pay Rate: £11.44 per hour plus £1.38 holiday pay

Job Description

As well as promoting the garden center, the marketing team also look after the ecommerce website and organise a number of events throughout the year, which include celebrity appearances, live music, street food, and Christmas chalet markets.

Beetham Nurseries is looking for an enthusiastic and capable individual to join a busy marketing department. Working closely with the Marketing Manager the successful intern will:

  • Manage social media accounts, creating content, copy-writing, scheduling and reporting
  • Assist in the day-to-day running of the online e-commerce platform, including content entry and photography
  • Design marketing assets, such as magazine ads, social media ads and in-store POS
  • Support event organisation and planning
  • Analyse online data and insights
  • Undertake photography, styling and editing for various channels

The successful candidate will be supported by colleagues at Beetham Nurseries and is expected to work on site for the duration of this internship.

The ability to travel by car will therefore be necessary, please consider commuting time and costs ahead of applying for this role and outline how you would travel to site within your cover letter.

It is envisaged that this internship will run over Aug/Sep 24 and there is an allocation of 130 hours available. This project is supported by Westmorland and Furness Council through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Person Specification

About You

•            You will be a friendly, enthusiastic and capable individual, who enjoys working as part of a close-knit team and also using your own initiative

•            You will have relevant experience and an understanding of office management and marketing principles

•            You will be a creative individual who can bring lots of ideas to the marketing department

•            You will be well-organised

•            Experience in photography and photo editing is beneficial but not essential

•            Experience of using marketing software, including social media (Google Analytics, Mailchimp, CMS experience, Facebook, Instagram, etc.) is beneficial but not essential
