The Library is looking for three current students to join our team of Library Student Ambassadors.
The Library Student Ambassadors will be involved in a variety of library activity including Undergraduate Open Days, Offer holder days, Welcome Week, and other Library events. You will be the first point of contact for prospective students and guests, providing great quality Library tours and sharing positive experiences of, and enthusiasm specifically for the Library and Learning Development.
The successful candidates will also participate in various working groups and projects across the library, which can be adapted and chosen based on their own interests. Previous Library Ambassadors have contributed to the following projects:
- Our Library social media team, including contributing to meetings and creating content for Instagram, such as Instagram story takeovers, Question and Answer sessions, and main feed posts.
- Developing our Library Newsletter and writing content.
- Supporting drop-in sessions in the special collections and archive research centre.
- Contributing to the library academic integrity group by reviewing webpages and engaging in focus groups to tailor and improve library services for diverse student needs, such as international students or AI integration.
- Contributing to library groups, such as the Library Management Team and Business Information and Communications Group, including attending student feedback carousels to get feedback on library social media and other communication channels.
- Supporting various recognition and Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity events. Examples include ‘Malika Booker: Reading and In Conversation’ (October 2023) and ‘Library of Lived Experience of Mental Health’ (March 2024).
Library Student Ambassadors will also receive career development support, including the opportunity to receive mentoring from Library staff and workshops with the university Careers Team.
See the Library’s Students as Partners webpage for more information about student employment across the Library & Learning Development.
