Role & Department Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Admin Assistant to support the Students' Union Housing team (SU Living) in the day to day running of the service. This includes liaising with tenants, property owners and prospective tenants as well as our contractors. The purpose is to help provide a quality, responsive service to ensure that we are meeting the expectations of our stakeholders and able to quickly address any concerns.
Start Date: ASAP
Working Pattern/Duration: Approx. 10-20 hours per week until end of October 2021.

Job Description

  • Answering phone calls on the general SU Living line 
  • Dealing with queries and problem solving for tenants, property owners and prospective tenants efficiently and politely
  • Monitoring the SU Living inbox and processing requests either by allocating to team members or responding directly
  • Supporting the allocation of keys to contractors and other service users
  • Working across the team on major projects such as housing fair and freshers fair
  • Supporting the work of the students' union with priorities linked to housing and the residential experience
  • Supporting tenant engagement programmes, such as sustainability or wellbeing initiatives

Person Specification

  • Ability to work with the public
  • Clear communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Attention to detail to support client engagement
  • IT literate - able to use office applications
  • Willingness to learn
  • Experience of working in a busy customer service role. 
  • Knowledge of how a students' union works or of Lancaster SU itself
  • Appreciation of the role of a students' union in wellbeing and engagement
