MTS is a niche consultancy firm, based in the North West, working within the Mining Industry. We help mines around the world work through specific challenges, deliver longer-term strategies and optimise their operations. This focuses around helping them use their data and technology to greater effect.

We are a small team of down to earth people and have a reputation for helping clients find solutions and get things done i.e. not bloated conversations with no action. We are looking for an experienced SQL Developer to be involved in the further development of high-quality database solutions for our clients. Initially due to Covid 19, this position will commence remotely.

Work pattern: 37.5 Hour work week, Full-time, Permanent.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities within the role will include:

  • Development of high-quality database solutions (predominantly within MS SQL Server).
  • Develop, implement and optimize stored procedures, functions and ETL processes.
  • Review, interpret and deliver ongoing business reporting requirements.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot existing SQL based solutions for performance improvements.
  • Develop procedures and scripts for data transformation and migration.
  • Architecture and strategic planning for future development.

Person Specification

To qualify you must have:

  • 2+ years of experience developing in SQL, performing ETL, data normalisation from multiple data sources.
  • Excellent understanding of SQL/T-SQL programming
  • Excellent understanding of Microsoft SQL Server including administration.
  • Understanding of the needs of data structures for Business Intelligence reporting inc. Tableau and Microsoft Power BI.
  • Understanding of Dimensional Modelling concepts.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based solutions such as Azure, Google BigQuery.
  • Database related vendor certification.
 Expectations from Candidates:
 
  • Interested in finding innovative but practical solutions to resolve complex challenges.
  • Interested in working in a dynamic environment combining technology, software and large mining equipment.
  • A good communicator - both written and orally.
  • A good listener (there is a consultancy element to the role).
  • Willing to travel periodically (globally and sometimes to remote locations)
