Role & Department Overview

The department of Maths & Stats is looking for a new Social Media Ambassador to represent the department on various platforms. They will be expected to work approx 5 hours per week and to research and schedule social media content. As well as work on the occassional Saturday events.
 

Please note that this role can be held as well as being a Student Ambassador.

These positions are only open to Maths & Stats undergraduate major and combined students, or postgraduate students who have previously studied an undergraduate degree with us.

Job Description

  • Using Hootsuite to schedule regular posts for the Maths & Stats Twitter and Facebook accounts
  • Starting an Instagram account from scratch and engaging with potential students in a creative manner
  • Working alongside academics to find content to post about the department
  • Attending Open Days and Applicant Visitor Days to promote the events throughout the day
  • Coming up with creative ideas to keep people engaged with the accounts

Person Specification

  • Current Lancaster student (essential)
  • Good knowledge of Lancaster University and the Maths & Stats department
  • Enthusiasm for life at Lancaster
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Ability to come up with creative ideas to engage the public
  • Excellent Marketing Skills
  • Experience in writing Social media content
  • To work effectively individually and as part of a team
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and work to defined schedules
  • Flexible approach to work
