Join the Maths & Stats Student Ambassador team to support recruitment and outreach events for 2018/19. 
 
Location: Mainly on Campus with a few opportunities to visit schools

 

These positions are only open to Maths & Stats undergraduate major and combined students, or postgraduate students who have previously studied an undergraduate degree with us.

Job Description

  • Representing your department at undergraduate recruitment & outreach events including Open Days and Applicant Visit Days (AVDs)
  • Promoting the ethos, opportunities and services of the department, enhancing reputation and sharing your positive experiences of Higher Education/Student Life at Lancaster.
  • Providing a friendly and approachable welcome to prospective students/supporters/teachers
  • Giving tours of the Maths & Stats building and facilities, with the confidence to talk about the broad spectrum of Maths & Stats disciplines
  • Assisting with the set-up and organisation of recruitment & outreach events
  • The opportunity to deliver student life presentations on campus and in schools and take part in student Q&A sessions (subject to further training)
  • Providing administrative support for staff where required

Person Specification

  • Current Lancaster student (essential)
  • Good knowledge of Lancaster University campus
  • Enthusiasm for life at Lancaster with excellent communication skills
  • To work effectively as part of a team and also at times individually
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and work to defined schedules
  • A friendly approach to dealing with large groups of prospective students / parents / teachers
  • Flexible approach to work
