Job Description
Lancaster Arts, an award-winning arts provider, are looking for an enthusiastic student currently studying within Lancaster University's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences to promote their events and activities to staff, students, and the public both on and off campus! As a Marketing Assistant, you will be joining a team who support cultural and artistic engagement at the highest level through a programme of internationally renowned contemporary theatre, dance, visual art, and classical music.
Start date: 16th September 
End date: Early December 
Interview date: TBC 
Rate of pay: £9.20 per hour (£8.21 + £0.99 holiday pay) 
Working pattern: 140 hours in total, flexible - to be agreed between Lancaster Arts and successful candidate
Main Duties:
  • Developing relationships with key society representatives, faculties, the Students' Union, and colleges to encourage students to engage with the work and opportunities within Lancaster Arts
  • To contribute and enact creative ideas to promote Lancaster Arts events to students on and off campus.
  • To take an active role on social media networks promoting Lancaster Arts events and opportunities
  • Liaise with individual campus colleges and their associated JCR representatives to encourage new first year students to attend the events and generally create a wider awareness and knowledge about the work of Lancaster Arts
  • Research relevant organisations/societies/groups that might be interested in specific Lancaster Arts events and personally contact group leaders
  • Distribute publicity materials across campus and in town
  • Lead the organisation of regular promotional stalls (i.e. in Alex Square) from booking the stall to ensuring volunteers staff the stall
Skills Required:
  • A clear understanding of Lancaster Arts, what it offers, and who its audience are
  • A good communicator
  • Enthusiastic
  • Good working knowledge of Social Media to promote events
  • Ability to work independently and to deadlines
  • Confidence in approaching new people: students, staff and the public
  • Confident and clear telephone skills
  • Initiative, enthusiasm and a problem-solving approach to new challenges


**This internship opportunity is exclusively available to current UG/PG students studying within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Lancaster University**
